Infirmary
Bridge
The Infirmary Suspension Bridge is constructed of cast iron, with
a wooden slatted deck. It is over 90 metres long and is one of two
footbridges over the river Ness in Inverness designed by CR Manners
and built between 1879 and 1881.
The last suspension bridge is the General's Bridge across the Ness
Islands
The Kessock Bridge
The Kessock Bridge's four towers dominate the Inverness
skyline. Built in 1982 to a German design, it was the first cable
stay bridge in Britain. This bridge replaced a ferry which
operated here for centuries. The Kessock bridge breathed new life
into the north of Scotland.
