Donald’s story
About four thousand years ago there were people who lived in little huts with stone walls and thatched roofs. I’m going to tell you about one of them who lived above Duntelchaig. His name was Donald.

Every morning when he woke up Donald felt stiff from lying in a bed made of stone and heather for a pillow. On a morning just like any other morning he was the last one up as usual. His mother told him his sister was up on the hill milking the cows and his older brother Archey was dear hunting. She also said, “You should be getting the eggs from the chickens you lazy boy.”

When Donald finally collected them some of them were put over the fire for breakfast. It was very smoky because there was no chimney. This made it very good for smoking the food and keeping the thatched roof heathy but wasn’t too good if you wanted to see properly. They all lived in one room and dud as much as they could outside because it wasn’t so smoky.
